In this work we will study one dimensional helium being driven by an external electric field. We will present a numerical method allowing us to identify and quantify the contributions of processes involving different numbers of photons to the decay of a given state, something that has not so far been done to a satisfying extend.
We first reproduce some results on decays to different single ionization channels previously obtained by Maximilian Schmidt for undriven helium in his diploma thesis [39] and then present some results for the abovementioned k-photon processes obtained using our method.
We find that our method works very well for the studied states, with the caveat that the identification of the contributions by decays to different single ionization continua, first used by Maximilian Schmidt, so far does not work satisfyingly well when applied on top of the k-component splitting.
